Our Hit Parade/Lance Bass/Greenpoint Haircut

Here's a 3-in-1:

Wednesday night I attended my first Our Hit Parade show. I have been meaning to go forever now and I finally did. It was totally great. If you don't know, it's a monthly show of top 40 hits performed by some regulars and special guests. Some performances are quite serious and some are anything but. Like I said before, it was pretty great. The three constants every month and show hosts are Kenny Mellman, Bridget Everett and Neal Medlyn. Highlights of this show for me were Bridget Everett doing Forever Young by Jay-Z, a heavy metal band called Eye of the Tiger doing a medley of the Rihanna song "Rude Boy" and the Fleetwood Mac song "Rhiannon"(!), an audience participation bit called, "What's In My Diaper?" and a rendition of the current smash hit "Nothin On You" by B.O.B. done by the actress Lily Taylor. Also, I stood next to Adam Horowitz aka Ad Rock from the Beastie Boys for at solid 10 minutes which was exciting to me, but I didn't say anything to him. Shy girl.

Thursday night while on a break at work, Lance Bass from NSYNC walked by me while I was talking to my mom on the phone. He was rosy cheeked and looked shiny like a famous person should.

Today, I got a my haircut in Greenpoint. And it's a great haircut. My first great Greenpoint haircut! I got it colored too and it's really dark! Here's a photo.

That is all.
Love,
Jennifer

Posted A Dinosaur Jr. LP on eBay From When They Were Still Called Dinosaur

Today I posted an original copy of Dinosaur's "You're Living All Over Me" on SST Records on eBay. After the band was forced to change their name early in their career and became Dinosaur Jr, subsequent covers say "Dinosaur Jr" instead of "Dinosaur". Duh. But I don't think I had ever seen a copy of one of these before.

I am selling off a pretty substantial cd and vinyl collection for someone and there is some pretty exciting stuff. Lots of 90s indie rock, which just happens to be one of my favorites so I'm having a pretty fun time with this project.

I saw Dinosaur Jr a few times in Atlanta in the early 90s on the Green Mind and Without A Sound tours. I'm pretty sure at one of those shows that My Bloody Valentine and Mercury Rev were the openers. Pretty crazy.

Anyway, I listened to those records over and over and over. My friend and the producer of my most recent record, John Agnello, recorded and mixed Without A Sound - pretty awesome.

Goodnight,
Jennifer

Ate at Otarian

There is a new "low-carbon" fast food restaurant in Manhattan called Otarian. If you live in NYC and ride the subway and or read any New York specific publications, you have certainly heard about this place - their ad campaign is widespread.

Anyway, there are 2 locations and one of them just happens to be a couple of blocks from one of the theaters I work at. So I went in today for lunch and ordered the Avocado Tomato Mozzarella with pesto dressing salad. I gotta say, it was pretty great.

I'd write more about the place and its environmentally sound aspirations, but I am zapped. And I just wanted to get an entry - any entry done - considering I haven't written here in about 2 weeks. So check out their website. Bad blogger!

Good night!

Sold Some Snacks To John McEnroe

Yesterday at my job selling drinks and snacks on BROADWAY I sold some peanuts and milk duds and other snack items to none other than John McEnroe.

He was wearing a Yankees cap.

I called my Mom and Dad after work thinking they would be excited because I remember them watching him play tennis on TV a lot when I was a kid, but neither one of them reacted very strongly. I guess they have moved on.

Aside from that, nothing much exciting has been happening.

But tomorrow, we start work on Amy's record! More on that soon.

Had a Very Nice, Low-Key Cinco De Mayo Celebration with 3 Friends

I had an impromptu hang with my lady Amy and my pals Debora and Michael at Vera Cruz tonight in celebration of Cinco De Mayo. It was probably nuts for us to go out to a Mexican place on this particular night, but it was fun and worth braving the crowds. We had to wait a little while for a table but it was worth it.

I had 2 margaritas with salt that were sweet but not too strong and we shared some enchiladas, nachos and fajitas. Ole!

Going to sleep now and hoping to make it to bootcamp in the morning. I had such a good day today. Happy about the new song I wrote. Happy, in general.
